Dear Readers,I’d like to wish you and your family a very happy, healthy 2012, and I hope that your dreams will come through in 2012.If your new years resolution is to get a job, you’ll find this blog entry particulary useful as it explains how you could use facebook to create your CV , promote yourself, and ultimately find a job!
It’s particularly relevant , as you can read from the below blogpost.

On another note, if the above dosn’t really apply to you, and you are heading to greener pastures for a while, but need to learn a new language to speed up the integration process, I’d suggest you join http://www.livemocha.com, which allows you to learn the basics of just about any language for free. You can also check them on Facebook here.
It’s very interactive and I found the lessons very constructive, I would highly recommend it. You can also help others who are learning your language ( you’d be surprised who wants to learn your language!)My new years resolution is , is to raise funds for charity. I have done it before, and really enjoyed it! I raised 4.500 Euros growing dwarf sunflowers ( mini sunflowers) for Crumlin and I have a couple of ideas to raise money , but I’d like to have your input, as the better the idea/product, the more likely it will succeed( and raise as much money as possible)

Presidential elections and a few other things
Hi all,
As the presidential election is in its final day and voters will be casting their votes tomorrow, I thought I’d tell you about the other things that are happening in Ireland.The presidentials elections ( like in any other country ) are always a recipe for controversy! You can read the latest one here...Check out this Wiki , the are ( affectionally) called the magnificent 7 ( though I’d rather call them the 7 musketeers if there was such a thing, normally it’s the 3 musketeers).I was listening to htt://www.4fm.ie yesterday, and was touched by the story of JJ Kane. You can listen to it here : http://www.4fm.ie/listenagain-tuesday/ and select the 1/2 o’clock repeat.As you can read here thanks to the radio program, well over 10 000 Euros was raised for JJ.It wasn’t looking great a few days ago, when his parents were refused financial help from the HSE, as you can read here.I was just so happy to hear it’s all going to work out!!I was also delighted to read the Benhaffaf twins ( who were born conjoined)were fitted with prosthetic limbs, and it appears they are thriving, kicking footballs and climbing where they shouldn’t, like any other little boys!And last but not least.. it seems we have bettered our own record with regards to rainfall! Check out this article..Data from the agency shows that 82mm of rain – around three-and-a-quarter inches – of rainfall was recorded at Casement Aerodrome at Baldonnell in south Dublin yesterday – the highest amount ever recorded for any date in October, which is more than 1 months of rainfall in a matter of hours,and this meant complete mayhem, particularly in Dublin.I am in Galway, and we had our fair share of floods 2 years ago, and I really hope all goes back to normal fast..Here is a clip of Dundrum Shopping centre when it was flooded..

can’t afford to marry, are given 10k for the wedding of their dreams.
But there’s a catch, a very big catch. They must get married within
three weeks and the groom has to arrange everything, from the dress to
the venue. He and his bride are contractually bound to have no contact
until the big day.The couples hand over their mobile phones and sign a contract, in the
presence of a lawyer, before separating for the three weeks the groom
has to organise the wedding.His best man and groomsmen can help with all the arrangements and the
choosing of the wedding dress, but at the end of the day it’s his bride
he is aiming to please.There are six episodes in this run of the series featuring couples
from Dublin, Sligo, Cork, Donegal, Meath and Carlow. Some of the couples
have cancelled previous wedding dates due to redundancy, others just
haven’t been able to get it together to get wed.Within the series we see a couple from Dublin, who’ve intended to
marry three times before, get married in a land mark venue that’s never
before hosted a wedding. One bride gets a helicopter ride to her local
church, while a groom makes a disasterous decision about the wedding
reception.There are tears and tantrums throughout, but always a happy ending.Don’t Tell The Bride’ is back!Would you like €10,000 for your wedding BUT would you trust your man

CONSENSUS: A CROSS-BORDER HOUSEHOLD ANALYSIS OF CONSUMPTION, ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY IN IRELANDThis project was funded by the Science, Technology, Research and Innovation for the Environment (STRIVE) Programme 2007–2013. The programme is financed by the Irish Government under the National Development Plan 2007–2013. It is administered on behalf of the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) which has the statutory function of coordinating and promoting environmental research.Lead Organisation: Trinity College Dublin
Project OverviewThis 4 year collaborative research project involving Trinity College Dublin and National University of Ireland, Galway, examines four key areas of household consumption that currently impact negatively on the environment and inhibit our ability, both in Northern Ireland and the Republic, to achieve sustainable development: transport, energy, water and food. A set of 7 integrated work packages will address four key themes: how consumption can be measured and evaluated; how sustainable behaviours and incentives are being developed and implemented; identifying links between consumption, health and well being; and finally how matters of household consumption are being governed through institutional practice and participation.The CONSENSUS project will respond to national and international research objectives on sustainable consumption in three main ways:1) It will generate important baseline data for Ireland in key areas of consumption that impact directly on the environment, including transport, energy, water and food.2) It will address existing gaps in the international body of literature dealing with (sustainable) consumption3) It will advance possibilities for measuring sustainable consumption through the development and application of innovative social research methods. These include the design and testing of a multi-method strategy for evaluating virtual mobility tools.The project will provide an overview of international best practice and design recommendations for national programmes in Ireland concerning sustainable consumption and production policies, in addition to recommendations about procedures, techniques and policies for advancing sustainability at the local level.The project involves collaboration with a number of key international and national agencies and organisations, such as SCRI in the UK and BordBia and the Sustainable Energy Agency in Ireland, and will assist these organisations in their decision making by providing essential relevant and timely information and research results.ONE OF THE KEY OUTCOMES OF THE PROJECT IS THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SUSTAINABLE CONSUMPTION RESEARCH NETWORK (SCRN).
