Social Media Campaign for the #RedRouteCycleway
It’s been an interesting 2 weeks, since the 5 proposed Greenway corridors have been announced to connect Athone with Galway. One of them, the Red Route 5 Corridor, comes via Gort, so I have been heavily involved in Social Media Campaign for the #RedRouteCycleway
So how do you Campaign when you can’t meet?
As we can’t meet in person, we have set up a number of Social Media accounts to campaign for #TheRedRouteCycleway to make the local population aware of this unique opportunity to bring the proposed Greenway to South Galway.

We set up a Facebook Group called the Red Route Cycleway – just over 1400 members now – click here to come and say hello!
Members have been contributing their favourite places and have shared some absolutely stunning images! The Slieve Aughty or the Slieve Aughty Mountains, the mountain range that I can just about see from our bedroom window, is a vastly unexplored, diverse and so scenic area. This isn’t just a short campaign, there is a vision and a strategy to connect the whole of East and South Galway ! The Red Route 5 website has detailed overview of each Region and the communities in it, things to do, a gallery with amazing images to be found on or near the #RedRouteCycleway and why the #RedRouteCycleway is the ultimate #Greenway to connect Athlone with Galway. We have been featuring some businesses in #Kinvara and #Ballinderreen that have the official brochures to give feedback, as not everybody is on Social Media and may not be aware that the consultation process ends March 1st!
