    Hi all,

    I know, two posts in one day, I am in overdrive:)
    During my short flight to Eindhoven, I read the inflight magazine called  Let’s Go Mag, which is actually quite good, I recommend you read it, as it always has lot’s of interesting articles about places to visit, in case you are looking for inspiration.
    As this blog is also about finding a job in Ireland, I saw an article in the mag about how Ryanair’s Digital Media Lab is going tot recruit 200! people in their state-of-the-art digital and IT Innovation hub in Swords, which is North of Dublin City Centre.(It’s a 25 minute drive)
    I checked out their website, which you can find here :http://www.labs.ryanair.com
    This is what you read when you enter their site……

    We have the resources to do it. We have the desire to do it. We have forty million people a month already visiting our web site. This is serious.

    In the article on their website they also say …. ” We ‘re proud to pay well to make sure we get and keep the best people and Ryanair Labs will offer the perks and culture of a start-up without the downsides.”

    So if you think you have what it takes, go to their website and check out their vacancies!

    Knock, Knock, who is there…. Ireland West Knock Airport

    Hello all,

    It’s 11.45 AM and I am sitting in the airport lounge at Ireland West Knock Airport. My flight is leaving in less than 30 minutes! (I reckon the flight is delayed.. oh dear..)
    It’s the first time I am flying from this airport, which is located in Co. Mayo.
    Here is a map from that shows you the way from Galway, it’s a pretty straightforward drive, just keep going straight:). From Galway, allow one hour and a half. (If you are travelling on a Friday or during peak traffic, I would allow more time, as traffic approaching Galway can be very slow….you are warned!!

    The name is a little misleading, but I think for PR reasons one wants to promote this airport as being in the West of Ireland.  There is another airport called Shannon Airport ( in Co. Clare) and this airport is more “westerly” than Knock Airport.

    Granted, it’s in the West of Ireland, but I suppose the West of Ireland is a large area, and depending where you want  to travel to, it can be  a very convenient airport.

    I was just checking, and as it happens,Galway is right in the middle :

    In my case, it’s about convenience!!!! They recently launched flights to Eindhoven, which , when I wish to travel to Belgium, is a good connection.
    The only other alternative I have is driving to Dublin and then get a flight to Brussels Zaventem( also a new route from Ryanair) , Charleroi or Eindhoven.
    It’s a pretty compact airport, and very popular, as it took me ages to find a parking space!
    I had checked in prior, but didn’t have time to print out my ticket, which I knew was bad news:(
    Luckily the airport does have a small computer section where you can go online (for a fee) and connected to the terminals is a printer , hooray!! ( I was also told that the PDF on my IPhone would probably work too)

    10 Euro Development fee to be paid upon departure
    I suppose the part that took me ( slightly) by surprise was the 10 Euro development fee that every passenger has to pay.. There was someone ahead of me, who was struggling to scrape 10 Euros together, as they had not budgetted for it.
    As the flight was delayed, I got talking to some Dutch visitors, who enjoyed their holidays in the West of Ireland. They rented a Qasqay for 5 days, paid about 50 Euros a day( of which 20 Euros insurance a day which they gladly paid, as driving on the left was a bit scary, and accidents can happen when you are not used to driving  on the left)

    Hi all,

    Sunday evenings is when I do my ironing, and when I catch up on news and Podcasts.
    I listen to all kinds of podcasts and this one caught my attention as it talks about Bobby Kerr visiting the Ebay offices in Dublin, which is located in Blanchardstown in the Atrium building. I particularly enjoyed how he describes the working environment, which is very chilled out!
    ( I work for Ebay too, but a different division, and I am not based in Dublin)

    Garryland Wood Trail to Coole Park Co. Galway

    Hello Readers,

    Today was another beautiful day! We had some sunny days last week, which I thought was the end of our Indian summer, however today was certainly another of those beautiful days. It’s on these days that you drop everything and venture out and let your eyes catch the beautiful colours in nature around us.

    We regularly go to a nearby park called Coole Park, it’s a big park , with many trails, but from time to time I get a little bit bored, so today I thought we’d venture to Garryland. Garryland is to the side of Coole Park, but is not as well known, but definitely a trail to keep in mind.

    Check out the below map, as there are no signposts to Garryland Woods. It’s pity as it’s a lovely walk.

    Coming from Galway, get off the motorway at Ardrahan and continue driving to Labane and take a right. You’ll pass the national school on the left, the community hall and Bradley’s bar on the right.. It’s a long drive but eventually, you’ll see the car park on the left-hand side.

     
    The trail is 4.6 Kms long, and that will bring you to the carpark in Coole Park. We didn’t do the whole walk, as didn’t want to have to walk all the way back, so  we walked from the car park at Garryland to the fence where Garryland meets Coole Park and then turned back. All by all it took us 1 hour and 20 minutes.
     
    The house you see below in Garryland isn’t a cake shop ( if only), it’s  a bathouse, ie it houses bats. Check out this link to find out more details about the bats! 

    The trail is very well signposted, so you won’t get lost! I am enclosing some pictures I took whilst I did the walk! The surface of the trail is excellent for cycling, but the trail is a bit hilly at times, so if you are pushing a buggy, you’ll definately feel it in your legs!

     

    So if you are looking for a change of scenery, check out the Garryland Woods Trail in Co. Galway.

    Ok, I’d like that!
    The switch over was fairly easy, had to get my phone unlocked, which took about 48 hours, and then I needed to get a Tesco Sim Card. They are free, and you can order them here.

    With the 15 Euros I have topped up, I can then buy add-ons  buy 1 GB of Data for 5 Euros, 5 GB of data for 5 Euros, and /or unlimited texts for 10 Euros.
    The first month I bought 5 GB of data, as wasn’t sure how much I really needed, and used the 5 remaining Euros for text. Turns out I use just about 1 GB, so the  next month I bought 1 GB and have 10 Euros left for texts.
    They have an app which you can download, and if you are connected to WIFI, you get 200 free national texts, and 50 free international texts. I thought that was really neat, as usually those free texts are only accessible if you log onto their website.. it’s  great that you can now text from the app, essentially for free!

    Net result? My phone bill has gone down from 55 Euros to 15 Euros AND I still have credit.
    So I texted Buzz to 50300 and donated 2 Euros to #Bumbleance  . You’l see I also donated to the #MND

    Local Data Quality Evaluator (EMEA)

    Our client is a global multinational based in Dublin. They are an American public corporation 
    specialising in internet search, global mapping and advertising technologies. 
    They host and develop a number of internet-based services and products.
    Responsible for evaluating the accuracy of data and using judgment to make decisions on 
    data quality. The role holder would receive an automated list every morning. This list would 
    contain queries from online map users who have identified mistakes regarding business’s 
    details that are advertised on the maps. The role holder will be required to make outbound 
    phone calls to business representatives to verify information held.
    The ideal candidate for this position will have a passion for data verification. They will enjoy 
    searching for information on the internet and talking to clients via phone and email. Whilst the 
    ideal client is target driven a sales background is not necessarily a requirement.
    • BA/BSc degree, ideally 1-2 years relevant business experience
    • Proven fluency in one of the following languages: German, French, Spanish, Italian,
